Skyland Trail focuses on helping individuals improve their functionality and quality of life, through both symptom management and the development of new skills and perspectives. Our client-centric clinical approach begins by identifying personal recovery goals. We assist the client in this process, developing an individualized recovery plan that includes medications, therapy, physical health, nutrition, socialization, readiness for employment or returning to school, spirituality, leisure activities and cultivation of healthy relationships with family and friends. Daily schedules include participation in a variety of groups focused on therapy, education, expressive arts, nutrition, exercise and physical health.
Our ultimate recovery goals for all our clients are:
- Improved overall functioning
- Maximum quality of life
- Improved socialization
- Community reintegration with purposeful activities
- Prevention of future relapse
While each recovery plan is tailored to the individual, each client at Skyland Trail is assigned to one of five recovery communities. Each recovery community is led by a primary counselor and a dedicated team of therapists who are specialists in their field.

Counselors work with clients to combine core recovery community therapies with complementary activities that strengthen the mind, body and spirit.
Clients may, at times, transition from one recovery community to another based on goals, clinical presentation, and achievement. Our five recovery communities are based on the most current medical research and include:
