About Skyland Trail

What we do

A project of the George West Mental Health Foundation, Skyland Trail serves adults with mental illness through innovative and individualized treatment that improves mental, physical and social well being. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Atlanta.

Through treatment at Skyland Trail, clients gain hope and confidence about the future by developing practical skills that empower them to change their lives.

How we work

Our Residential and Day Treatment includes psychiatric service, primary health care, counseling and medications. We also offer a dual diagnosis treatment program to address substance abuse disorders related to a primary mental illness diagnosis. A variety of adjunctive therapies — horticulture, art, music, woodworking and others — are important elements of treatment.

Family support is a major emphasis. Through vocational services, we help clients achieve their goals of holding a job, returning to school, or contributing to the community as a volunteer. Life enrichment activities encourage clients to enjoy social interaction.

Where we serve

Skyland Trail’s three-acre main campus is the center for treatment programs and administration. Two residential campuses, Skyland Trail South and Skyland Trail North, are located nearby. Each campus is staffed by expert clinicians and other professionals with extensive mental health experience.
