Dual
Diagnosis Treatment Center
The
dual diagnosis treatment center at Skyland Trail is integrated into our other treatment components including counseling, group therapy and interesting adjunctive therapies. Clients progress through levels of care in a program that features five daily groups and a weekly individual therapy session. Up to three daily groups focus on substance abuse recovery, with the rest concentrated on mental health concerns. In addition to sessions focused on substance abuse, clients participate in complementary sessions on self esteem, codependency, self destructiveness, and other issues pivotal in dual
diagnosis treatment and recovery. Dual diagnosis clients in day
treatment (non residents) are encouraged to attend an onsite weekly evening Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA) group. We also strongly advocate full participation in community-based Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous groups.
Skyland Trail is a dual diagnosis treatment facility for adults with primary mental health concerns and secondary substance abuse. Our
dual diagnosis treatment center model addresses both conditions in the same facility, using the same skilled therapists, which is widely regarded as the most effective approach when mental illness is compounded by substance abuse issues. We emphasize progressive dual diagnosis recovery from both disorders, including the importance of abstinence.
