2-5-08 ~ Skyland Trail Programs. Chris Cline, LCSW.  Learn more about what your family member is learning in groups, recovery tracks, how treatment planning occurs,  and have an opportunity to ask   questions about Skyland Trail Programs.

2-12-08 ~ Electrical Brain Stimulation: ECT, VNS, TMS and DBS. Paul Holtzheimer, MD.  Learn about the use of   various brain stimulation therapies in psychiatric disorders (primarily mood disorders). This will include a discussion of the available evidence on efficacy, safety, and research.

2-19-08 ~ Navigating Social Security. Sally Atwell and Curtis Rogers .  Learn about SSI, SSDI, how to apply,           how paid employment effects benefits, and learn some helpful tips for applying for benefits.

2-26-08 ~ Advocacy and Legislative Issues in Mental Health. Ellyn Jeager, Lobbyist for the National Mental Health Association of Georgia will share issues effecting mental health in the upcoming Georgia legislative session, as well  as, discussing effective ways to make your voice heard.

3-4-08 ~ NAMI’s programs and resources.  Jerry Bishop, President of NAMI Northside. Learn about the history of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Health), it’s programs, education series, resources, and community involvement.

3-11-08 ~  Bridges to Opportunity (Vocational Services) Program. Pamela Innes, PhD. Come learn about the exciting new programs in Skyland Trail’s Bridges to Opportunity (Vocational Services) program including the Center for   Lifelong Learning, Business Boot Camp, Center for Entrepreneurism & Microenterprise (Starting Your Business/Growing Your Job), Social Enterprise & Community Volunteerism.

3-18-08 ~ Grief and Mental Illness. Beth Toler, M. Div.  This family session will focus on the role that grief plays     in recovery from mental illness.  In addition to “losing the person you once knew,” or “the life you once knew,”       mental illness may also bring significant losses that include our belief system, such as loss of innocence, trust,         respect, dignity, hopes, dreams, faith, or religion. 

3-25-08 ~ Future Prospects for Early Interventions in Schziophrenia. Michael Compton, MD, MPH. Learn about   conceptualizing schizophrenia from a preventive perspective: Recent findings and future prospects.

4-1-08 ~ Mood Disorders. Ray Kotwicki, MD.  This education presentation will differentiate between unipolar and bipolar depression and talk about the importance of this distinction in the treatment and recovery from each.

4-8-08 ~ Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT.) Dirk Magwitz, MS, LAPC, CRC. Dialectical Behavior  Therapy (DBT) is a treatment designed specifically for individuals that struggle with problems such as depression, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, eating disorders, or alcohol and drug problems.
