Skyland Trail completes Initiatives for Program and Campus Expansion Campaign

Atlanta (July 10, 2009) - Skyland Trail announced the successful completion of its Initiatives for Program and Campus Expansion - the ICE campaign, with a total of $11.5 million raised in two phases for capital enhancements and programming to serve adults with mental illness.
Phase I of the campaign was launched in 2005 with a goal of $8.3 million, focusing on capital expansion and improvements to Skyland Trail's main campus on North Druid Hills Road in central Atlanta and to the Skyland Trail South residential facility on Clairmont Road in Decatur. In addition, gifts provided funding for an Endowment to sustain the new capital projects.
With the successful completion of Phase I funding goals in 2006, Skyland Trail initiated Phase II of the ICE campaign with a goal of $3.2 million to complete a capital project and provide five-year start-up funding for three critical programming initiatives. These initiatives include the expansion of Skyland Trail's vocational services program, Bridges to Opportunity, to provide training for clients returning to school and work; funding to enhance and expand to full-time Skyland Trail's on-site primary care clinic; and funding to create an outcomes research program to track and analyze the success of our treatments and the impact on functionality and quality of life for Skyland Trail clients.
"It's hard to express in words our heartfelt thanks to the many individuals and foundations who responded to help adults with mental illness recover their lives," said Beth Finnerty, Skyland Trail's president. "Mental illness affects every family, and we will now be able to serve more people with greater impact."
