WELCOME TO
RESIDENTIAL SERVICES
The staff at Skyland Trail will work with you to reach your independent recovery goals
during your treatment. We want to ensure your stay is as rewarding and pleasant as
possible. This information is designed to introduce you to some tips and basic facts,
which are frequently asked, by our clients and their families. If you should have further
questions, please feel free to ask any staff member for assistance.
WHAT TO BRING
Casual attire is suggested while on the grounds. However, with the wide variety of
activities available (i.e., gardening, swimming, sports, job seeking, symphonies, plays),
it is best to bring a wardrobe, which is appropriate for a wide array of functions.
Skyland Trail will provide you with soap, toilet paper, towels and sheets, laundry
detergent and other cleaning supplies. Each client is responsible for providing their own
shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, and any other personal hygiene products which they may
desire.
WHAT TO LEAVE AT HOME
We recommend that clients do not bring items of value, such as jewelry or large amounts
of cash. Skyland Trail can secure your money in our safe and we will help create a
reasonable budget, if you so desire. Clients are NOT to have any type of weapons,
alcohol, street or non- prescription drugs in their possession.
VISITATION AND CURFEWS
Visitation hours are determined on an individual basis. Visitation hours and curfews are
extended as clients move closer to independence.
Visitors must be introduced to staff upon arrival.
Clients must have a pass to leave the grounds during free time and return by their set
curfews. Clients MUST sign out/in at the staff office when they are leaving and
returning.
TELEPHONE COURTESY
The client's phone is located in the dayroom and available for use during free time.
It is thoughtful to limit calls to ten minutes when others are waiting.
Private calls to physicians can be made from the office phone.
MONEY AND STAMPS
Clients are encouraged to keep as little cash on them as possible.
Skyland Trail does not provide postage stamps. Please bring a supply of them if
you are planning to mail letters. Otherwise, staff can assist you in purchasing them.
SMOKING PRIVILEDGES
Skyland Trail is a smoke-free environment. Smoking is permitted only in designated
areas outside on the grounds.

living at Skyland Trail. Staff can offer referrals if necessary.

monthly unless specified differently by the psychiatrist. Skyland Trail staff will
transport clients to medical appointments but encourage clients to provide their own

RULES
Clients are responsible for demonstrating appropriate adult behavior as established in
the Resident Handbook.
The Resident Handbook will be thoroughly explained prior to admission.
UNDERSTANDING OUR COMMUNITY
The residential program can house up to forty-six (46) adults at two facilities.
The facilities are supervised by staff 24 hours a day.
Clients are given the responsibility of both individual and common area cleanliness,
as this skill is important in living independently. Staff is available to teach
appropriate skills as necessary.
Clients are given an opportunity to act as a leader and decision-maker, with an
election by their peers as a House Manager once a month during the weekly house meetings.
The House Manager oversees client chores and follow-up, and together with staff,
acting as house council, can give extended privileges.
Once again, welcome to our facility and good luck in the pursuit of
your goals
