In Recovery: A poem by a graduate of Skyland Trail

November 26, 2012

IN RECOVERY

We are in recovery and must realize
With each passing day, there are certain
Things we should not do
But that’s not a big price to pay
Sometimes recovery requires us to
Change the way we live
There is still room to receive, still
Room to give

We may feel we were dealt a bad hand
Friends and family don’t always understand
Each moment we live we must
Give it a firm embrace
And know we are an asset to the human race

Recovery is a long winding road
On it are very heavy loads
Many people in recovery have done
Great things
They give us inspiration that
Things do change

We must not worry, it only causes harm
We can rest assured we do belong
God will make a way and give us better
Tomorrows
He will soothe our pain and sorrow
