Skyland Trail Artists Showcase Artwork at Statewide Exhibition

Atlanta, GA – On Saturday, September 23, 2017, the Pilot Clubs of Metropolitan Atlanta hosted their 33rd Annual Georgia Artists with Disabilities Exhibition. More than 100 artists participated in the exhibit from various organizations throughout Georgia.
Guests from around the community enjoyed various art media including pottery, painting, sculpture, woodcarving, photography and weaving.
Seven Skyland Trail clients and alumni participated in the exhibit and showcased their artistic abilities through the support and encouragement of the Skyland Trail art department. Two alumni received awards for their artwork, including Mike S. who won Best in Show and Honorable Mention alongside Distinguished Merit winner, Emiko S.
Art therapy is a part of the adjunctive therapies program at Skyland Trail, which includes horticultural, process art, product art, music, and recreational therapy. Led by caring professionals who are experts in their fields, adjunctive group sessions help clients find new ways to express their thoughts and emotions, learn new skills, build confidence, and interact with their peers and the community.
