Skyland Trail Kicks-Off Mental Health Month with Arts in the Garden

Atlanta, GA – Skyland Trail, a nationally recognized nonprofit mental health treatment organization for adults with mental illness, held its 18th annual Arts in the Garden event on Friday, May 4, 2018. More than 700 guests filled the gardens and enjoyed a fun-filled day celebrating Mental Health Month.
Guests shopped from 30 local artists and vendors with items including jewelry, pottery, fine art paintings and hand-crafted candles. Visitors also enjoyed listening to live music on the main stage with performers including Cindy Wooten; Kim Armstrong; Youth Villages, Inner Harbour Drummers; Stephen Reynolds; the Druid Hills Billy’s; and the Skyland Trail Band. Throughout the gardens, guests enjoyed wheel-thrown pottery, basket weaving and spinning demonstrations as well as an art gallery, plant sale and a cake walk featuring 25 cakes donated by the Skyland Trail Associates.
Arts in the Garden is an event organized by the adjunctive therapies program at Skyland Trail, including horticultural, art, music and recreation therapy, and social enrichment. Led by caring professionals who are experts in their fields, adjunctive group sessions help clients find new ways to express their thoughts and emotions, learn new skills, build confidence, and interact with their peers and the community.
