Atlanta Young Professionals Chair Southern Shindig to Support Skyland Trail and Mental Health
July 23, 2018
Atlanta, GA – Skyland Trail, a nationally recognized residential treatment organization for adults with mental illness, recently announced Connor and Maddie Davidson and Morgan and Mike DiOrio as the 2018 Southern Shindig co-chairs.
The eighth annual Southern Shindig event will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018, at Monday Night Brewing Garage. Guests will enjoy a night of live music by Fukushima Tuna, food and margaritas from On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina silent auction items, Monday Night brews, and more. Proceeds from this event enable Skyland Trail to help transform the lives of individuals living with mental illness.
"Connor and I support Skyland Trail for so many reasons,” Southern Shindig co-chair Maddie Davidson remarks. “Mental illness doesn't discriminate -- it can affect anyone. Southern Shindig allows us to not only raise awareness and funding for Skyland Trail, but also help eliminate the stigma around mental health conditions. We need more candor and unabashed conversation about these illnesses that affect not only individuals but their families as well."
"While there are many worthwhile causes to support in the Atlanta area, Skyland Trail holds a special place in our hearts,” Morgan DiOrio , Southern Shindig co-chair states. “Mental health is such an important and often overlooked part of wellness, but something that impacts all of us either personally or our friends, family, and members of our community. Mike and I are looking forward to participating in this year’s Southern Shindig to raise awareness and contribute to such a wonderful organization.”
Southern Shindig is geared toward and organized by young professionals in Atlanta. A group of dedicated volunteers created this event as a way to introduce the important work of Skyland Trail to up and coming corporate and civic leaders.
