Team FSHD Skyland Trail Takes on the Race Across America
Powell Brown, a friend of Skyland Trail, is racing to raise mental health awareness with a goal of raising $1,000,000.
Brown and Team FSHD Skyland Trail will participate as an 8-person team in the Race Across America, one of the most respected and longest running ultra-endurance events in the world. Teams must cycle 3,100 miles across 12 states and climb over 170,000 vertical feet. The race begins in Oceanside, California, on June 15, 2019, and ends roughly a week later in Annapolis, Maryland.
“We are raising awareness, helping to erase the stigma associated with mental illness and raising money for education, research, and treatment of these serious disorders which affect so many of our friends, family, and colleagues," says Brown. "Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death in youth ages 10 to 24. I’m riding to change that.”
