Skyland Trail Hosts Eighth Annual Southern Shindig To Support Mental Health Treatment
On Thursday, August 23, 2018, Skyland Trail hosted its eighth annual Southern Shindig at Monday Night Garage. More than 200 young professionals attended the fundraising event in support of Skyland Trail, a nationally recognized mental health treatment organization. Through sponsorship, tickets sales, silent auction and raffle, more than $48,000 were raised for Skyland Trail’s financial aid and treatment programs for adults 18 and over struggling with bipolar illness, major depression, schizophrenia or anxiety disorders.
Guests enjoyed a night of music from Fukushima Tuna while sampling Monday Night brews and cuisine from On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina, Chicken Salad Chick, and Krystal. Guests also enjoyed a silent auction and raffle items ranging from jewelry and art to unique group experiences, all generously donated by various companies and individuals in the community.
The event was organized by a volunteer host committee led by event co-chairs Maddie and Connor Davidson alongside Morgan and Mike DiOrio with auction co-chairs Farley Sirockman and India Waters.
