Southern Shindig Raises More Than $62,000 for Mental Health Treatment
ATLANTA – On Thursday, August 22, 2019, Skyland Trail hosted its ninth annual Southern Shindig at Steady Hand Beer Co. More than 200 up-and-coming business and civic leaders attended the fundraising event in support of Skyland Trail, a nationally recognized mental health treatment organization. Through sponsorships, tickets sales, silent auction and raffle, more than $62,000 were raised for Skyland Trail’s financial aid and treatment programs. Skyland Trail treats adults 18 and over struggling with bipolar illness, major depression, schizophrenia or anxiety disorders, and will open the new J. Rex Fuqua Campus for adolescents ages 14 to 17 in October 2019.
Guests enjoyed a night of music from Mark Grundhoefer while sampling Steady Hand brews and cuisine from On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina and Chicken Salad Chick. Guests also enjoyed a silent auction and raffle items ranging from jewelry and art to unique group experiences and sporting events, all generously donated by companies and individuals in the community.
The event was organized by a volunteer host committee led by event chairs Caroline and Bill Weimar and Fraser Parker alongside auction chair Robert Bairstow.
