Skyland Trail Hosts Reception for Gender Education Demystification Symposium

ATLANTA – Skyland Trail, a nationally recognized nonprofit psychiatric treatment organization, hosted a reception on Monday, February 18, 2019 for attendees of the 2019 Gender Education Demystification Symposium.

Held at the Skyland Trail Rollins Campus for Young Adults, more than 100 mental health clinicians and educational consultants attended the reception to learn more about the evidence-based psychiatric treatment services that Skyland Trail offers for individuals struggling with mental illnesses like depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and co-occurring substance abuse disorders. The reception allowed attendees and representatives from Skyland Trail’s multidisciplinary treatment team to have in-depth, one-on-one discussions about the continuum of care and the unique therapeutic needs of LGBTQ clients. Skyland Trail President & CEO Beth Finnerty also gave remarks to the group, emphasizing the on-going construction of the new J. Rex Fuqua Campus for adolescents ages 14 to 17, scheduled to open in fall 2019.

Skyland Trail offers psychiatric treatment programs for LGBTQ adults who are experiencing mental illness in a welcoming environment. In addition to specialized training for clinical staff, Skyland Trail offers weekly support groups for its LGBTQ clients, inclusive restrooms, family therapy services, and provides effective treatment for people struggling with mental illness regardless of where they may identify on a spectrum of gender or sexual orientation.
