Skyland Trail Research Team Presents at International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies Annual Meeting

The Skyland Trail research team presented at the 2025 Annual Meeting of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies in Baltimore in September 2025.

Alex Rothbaum, PhD, MPH, director of research and outcomes, chaired the symposium titled Non-Profit Bridges to the Community; Partners in Novel Trauma Programming as part of the concurrent session Multi-Institutional, Inter-Disciplinary, and Innovative Approaches to Traumatic Stress in Atlanta. Rothbaum also co-led a panel titled Merging Perspectives: Innovative Public Health Approaches to Mental Health Sequelae of Trauma.

Raneeka DeMoss, MPH, outcomes and research coordinator, presented a poster session on findings from a study Female Patients With Probable PTSD are More Likely to Admit into a Non-Emergent Residential Psychiatric Treatment Facility During the Follicular Menstrual Cycle Phase.

Noah Marchuck, data specialist, presented a poster session presenting data from the study Transgender and Gender Expansive Adult Patients With Previous Sexual Trauma Exposure in Intensive Psychiatric Treatment Report Greater Utilization of Self-Distraction Coping Skills Compared to Cisgender Adults.

Skyland Trail is a trauma-informed residential mental health treatment program for adults and adolescents in atlanta. Specialized programming, including cognitive processing therapy (CPT) for adults with co-occurring PTSD or trauma-related disorders and prolonged exposure therapy (PE) for adolescents with primary or co-occurring PTSD help clients address trauma-related symptoms and engage more fully in residential and PHP treatment.
