2020 Journeys Magazine

Letter from the President

At Skyland Trail, our mission is to help individuals recover from mental illness and live independent and meaningful lives in the community. Over the past 30 years, we’ve provided hope and recovery to more than 4,000 adults. And this past October, we were thrilled to open the J. Rex Fuqua Campus for adolescents, a residential program that provides teens and their families with a roadmap to a healthy future.

We’ve all felt the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and those with mental illness have been hit especially hard. We have worked incredibly hard at Skyland Trail to meet the challenges of this moment.

In response to the pandemic, our staff of more than 150 professionals has made truly herculean efforts to build and quickly implement new systems to make sure that our clients and families continue to receive world-class care. I’m so proud of the extraordinary creativity, agility, empathy and resiliency exhibited by our team and am very grateful for their passionate commitment to our mission and our community.

And community support has been an important part of our efforts. Charitable giving helps us provide needed financial aid so that our clients can complete their treatment, achieve the best possible outcomes, and lead productive lives. This year, investment in our financial aid program is more important than ever before.

Offering Journeys as a digital publication this year is just one of the ways we have adapted. I hope you enjoy learning about stories of hope from our clients and families, how we've re-engineered our programs to protect clients and staff from COVID-19, and the many individuals and organizations who make our work possible.

Thank you for your interest and support in these uncertain times.

Sincerely,
