Skyland Trail Welcomes Three New Members to Professional Advisory Board

ATLANTA, GA — Skyland Trail is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to its Professional Advisory Board: Katie Wolfe, MD; Neha Khurana, MD; and Karen Giles, MD.

The Professional Advisory Board is a select group of metro Atlanta psychiatric providers. It was created to provide a forum for providers to share information on best practices, to collaborate on professional issues, and to support Skyland Trail clinical programs.

“These new members bring deep clinical expertise, compassion, and a strong commitment to patient-centered care,” says Adam Meadows, MD, Skyland Trail Interim Charles B. West Chief Medical Officer and co-chair of the Professional Advisory Board . “Their insight will be invaluable as we continue to advance our mission of providing outstanding psychiatric treatment and evidence-based care.”

Katie Wolfe, MD

Katie Wolfe is a board-certified psychiatrist at Skyland Trail, specializing in psychiatric evaluation and medication management. She joined the organization after more than a decade with Wellstar Health System, where she served as an outpatient staff psychiatrist. Dr. Wolfe is known for her collaborative, team-based approach to care and her focus on individualized treatment planning.

She earned her BS in Nutritional Sciences, summa cum laude, from Louisiana State University and received her MD from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her psychiatry residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where she also participated in the Healthcare Leadership in Quality track, focusing on improving psychiatric care systems and patient safety.

Her clinical interests include mood and anxiety disorders, women’s mental health, and the integration of lifestyle factors—such as sleep, nutrition, and physical activity—into psychiatric treatment. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the Georgia Psychiatric Physicians Association.

Neha Khurana, MD

Neha Khurana is an attending psychiatrist and president of Georgia Behavioral Health in Norcross, Georgia. Her path to psychiatry began in Internal Medicine, where she developed a deep appreciation for the role of narrative, identity, and lived experience in patient care. Early in her career, she found that patients often sought understanding beyond diagnostic data, shaping her holistic approach to psychiatry.

Dr. Khurana’s clinical perspective emphasizes the importance of emotional experience—such as grief, hope, anxiety, and resilience—as central to healing and treatment engagement. She brings a strong interest in culturally responsive care and the therapeutic value of human connection in psychiatric practice.

Karen Giles, MD

Karen Giles is the chief medical officer, co-founder, and interventional psychiatrist at Breakthru Psychiatric Solutions in Sandy Springs. She provides specialized care for individuals with moderate-to-severe depression, anxiety, PTSD, and OCD. Her clinical focus includes treatment-resistant conditions, an area of expertise developed during her training at Emory University.

Dr. Giles is experienced in coordinating comprehensive, individualized treatment plans and works closely with patients throughout acute phases of care. She also provides second opinions and consultative services, with a focus on evidence-based, collaborative treatment approaches aligned with each patient’s goals and needs.

Through their service on the Professional Advisory Board, Wolfe, Khurana, and Giles will contribute their clinical insight and expertise to support Skyland Trail’s ongoing commitment to excellence in mental health care and innovation in treatment.
