Jarrod Leffler, PhD, ABPP

Chief Clinical Officer

Dr. Leffler joined Skyland Trail in 2026. In the role of Chief Clinical Officer (CCO), he provides leadership for adult and adolescent residential and day treatment programs, adjunctive services, psychological services, family therapy, vocational services and pastoral counseling.

Dr. Leffler is a board certified child and adolescent psychologist. He received his PhD in clinical psychology from Saint Louis University. He completed his internship at Harvard Medical School and the Children’s Hospital, Boston, and his fellowship in child and adolescent mood disorders at Ohio State University. Prior to joining Skyland Trail, he served as Associate Professor and Chief, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychology, at Virginia Commonwealth University, Department of Psychiatry, and the Children’s Hospital of Richmond. He previously served in clinical and administrative roles at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, as Director of the Child and Adolescent Integrated Mood Program and Director of the Pediatric Transition Program.

He is a 2022 American Psychological Association Division 53 Fellow, a distinguished designation given to members of the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology who have made outstanding, nationally recognized contributions to the field of child and adolescent psychology. He also is a Fellow of the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy. He currently serves on the American Psychological Association Task Force for Serious Mental Illness, and Severe Emotional Disturbance, and the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology Board. He served two terms as the President of the American Board of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology. He developed and served as co-Chair of the Acute, Intensive, and Residential Service Special Interest Group focused on improving youth mental health as well as policy, research, training and leadership in acute, intensive, and residential care settings. He currently serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Evidence-Based Practice in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, the Journal of Cognitive Psychotherapy, and the Journal of Child Psychiatry & Human Development.
