Woodlands Garden Partners with Atlanta Mental Health Nonprofits for 14th Annual Fairies in the Garden
DECATUR, GA – The magic returns to Woodlands Garden for the 14th year in a row. Come join us for the enchanting experience of Fairies in the Garden, in partnership with Skyland Trail and Hillside Atlanta: Healing and Hope for Children and Families, from Saturday, October 10 – Saturday, October 24.
Fairies in the Garden is a free exhibit that is open to all during daylight hours. The exhibit features artistic “fairy” houses, hidden throughout the Garden’s eight-acre forest. Skyland Trail and Hillside Atlanta artists create intricate, tiny houses in the woods to celebrate art within nature. Walk through the garden paths to discover the delightful little fairy dwellings built from bark, twigs, branches, seed heads, leaves and other natural materials, tucked in sheltered nooks. Colonies include root fairies, stump fairies, fortress fairies, moss fairies … and of course trolls under the bridge. Fairy costumes are encouraged!
The locations of the fairy homes vary each year to encourage visitors to explore different areas of the Garden, with about 200 fairy homes placed around 8 different sites. Fairy home sites are selected with the goal of being accessible from hardscape trails and ADA-paths, thus helping to ensure the fun and magic can be easily experienced by all. This beloved event is designed to help families and children recognize and appreciate the art that lies within nature.
Special thanks to our friends at Skyland Trail and Hillside Atlanta for working with us to make this event a success and to our Sponsors for their support: White Oak level – A.S. Turner and Sons; Bigleaf Magnolia level – Decatur City Lifestyle Magazine, HLM Financial Group; Flowering Dogwood level – Glenncrest Decatur, Glide Pizza, Jessica Lily Watercolor, and Smarties Academy.
Woodlands Garden is located at 932 Scott Blvd., Decatur GA 30030. For more information, including directions and parking options, please visit www.woodlandsgarden.org.
