Annual Associates Spring Luncheon Raises Record Amount

Skyland Trail recently hosted its 15th annual Associates Spring Luncheon on Friday, March 18, 2022. The Luncheon, which was held in person for the first time in two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, raised more than $124,000—a record amount of support received through this annual spring event. Proceeds from the luncheon will directly benefit Skyland Trail treatment programs. In 2021, funds raised from the Associates Luncheon were used for an expansion of the J. Rex Fuqua Campus for adolescents. Construction recently began that will create additional parking for a growing treatment team as well as an outdoor recreation and therapy space for teen clients. Plans include the addition of 68 parking spaces, a greenhouse, an outdoor amphitheater, and trails.

During the event, co-chaired by Associates President Cat Lindauer and Associates Vice President Scottie Schoen, an alumni parent shared her family’s story of how Skyland Trail helped their son recover from mental illness. The keynote speaker was Amy Morin, LCSW. Morin, who is editor-in-chief of Verywell Mind, a licensed therapist, and an author, described strategies to modify thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. More than 300 people attended the event which was held at Piedmont Driving Club in Atlanta.

The 2022 event was made possible by leadership sponsors Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty, First Horizon, Home Luxury Real Estate, and the Shaifer Family; gold sponsors Around the Table Foundation, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Norfolk Southern, Shayla Rumely, and Betsy West; silver sponsors Anna Paré Dermatology Consultants, Nancy Caswell, Julie Collins, Nan Easterlin, Duvall Fuqua, Sharon Falconer and Live Oak Caregivers, Suci Jackson, Catherine and Doug Lindauer, Lauren and John McColskey, Karen Parker, Patty Reid, Denise Rezek, Tricia Rosenbaum, Scottie Schoen, and VPI Designs.
