Teen Wellness Academy

Group Overview: The Teen Wellness Academy outpatient clinical groups helps teens who are struggling with school, relationships, and the expectations of life. Do any of these apply to you?

    • Are you struggling to attend school or keep up with your school work?
    • Do you find it difficult to ask teachers or parents for help?
    • Are you constantly worrying about what other people think about you?
    • Do you struggle with making friends?
    • Do you feel too overwhelmed to function the way you want to?

Learn skills and strategies to handle what life throws at you. Feel empowered to handle tough situations instead of feeling overwhelmed, frozen, or stuck. Learn language to effectively ask for help from the adults who care about you but are unsure how to best support you.

Group Format: Teens commit to an 8-week in-person course. The group meets weekly for 90-minute sessions.

Cost
$550 per teen. Insurance not accepted. Private pay only.

Pride Tribe: LGBTQ+ Support Space

Group Overview: A safe and supportive spaces for teens ages 14 to 17 who are struggling with aspects of their gender identity or sexuality. Parents are invited to join for the last half hour of each session. Do any of these apply to you?

  • Do you have a lot of questions or anxiety about your sexuality or gender identity?
  • Maybe you feel secure in your sexuality and gender identity but don't feel confident about talking with your family about these topics?
  • Are you the parent of a queer adolescent and don't know where to start with showing supporting for their identity, experience, and challenges?

Pride Tribe is a safe and nonjudgmental space where you can connect with other queer teens exploring similar questions. Teens learn language and strategies to show up authentically at home and at school while navigating common challenges. Parents learn new perspectives and opportunities to connect with their teens, including how to help them feel safe, respected, and valued, while still maintaining expectations and boundaries.

Parenting is a Process

Group Overview: Parenting is a Process is an educational group for parents of adolescents ages 14 to 17. The group will help parents of teens with emerging mental health or behavioral concerns learn tools to improve family cohesion and dynamics.

Group Facilitator: Caitlin Connolly, LCSW, CAADC (see bio below)

Group Takeaways: During the 8-week course, parents will create a family agreement that can assist in setting structure, creating accountability, and much more within the home environment. In addition, parents will learn strategies and techniques to enhance their confidence.

Group Format: Virtual online. Participants must be Georgia residents. Parents commit to attending an 8-week virtual course. Groups meet weekly online for 60 minutes each session.

Cost:  $650 for one parent or caregiver. $800 for two. At least one of the registrants must be the teen's legal guardian. Private Pay only. Insurance not accepted.

Caitlin Connolly, LCSW, CAADC

Director of Adolescent Clinical Services
Caitlin Connolly is the Director of Adoelscent Clinical Services for Skyland Trail. In her role, she manages and provides support and consultation for the adolescent clinical team and provides therapy to adolescent clients in the residential program. Caitlin is a licensed clinical social worker and a certified advanced alcohol and drug counselor. She has extensive training in CBT, DBT, and trauma-focused treatment in a variety of settings, including university- and school-based counseling, community mental health, residential substance abuse and mental health treatment, and mental health in corrections facilities. Caitlin received a master’s degree in social work and bachelor’s degree in psychology from Valdosta State University.

Abby Dickinson, LMSW

Adolescent Primary Therapist
Abby Dickinson is a primary counselor with the Skyland Trail Adolescent Program. Abby has several years of experience providing therapeutic services in residential treatment programs. She has experience in family, couples, and individual therapy utilizing DBT, CBT, and family systems approaches. Abby received a master’s degree in Social Work from Valdosta State University and a bachelor’s degree in social work from The University of Georgia.
