OUR HISTORY

Timeline

Skyland Trail began with the determination of Atlanta business leader Charles B. West. In 1982 he established The George West Mental Health Foundation, named for his father, and recruited a committed board of directors. Over the decades, Skyland Trail has built on the foundation established by Mr. West and his family. When Skyland Trail opened in 1989, we served four adult patients in a single facility. Today, Skyland Trail has six campuses and serves more than 500 individuals - adult patients, adolescent patients, and their families - each year. Skyland Trail continues to grow and innovate, supported by the generosity of our friends and donors in the community.
