What are your favorite things about working at Skyland Trail?
My favorite thing about working at Skyland Trail is my co-workers. I feel very lucky to call so many of my co-workers friends and have loved getting to be part of a community of people who bring so much to Skyland Trail professionally and through their personalities.
What does a typical day look like?
One thing I really enjoy about my job is that there is so much variety, and my days can look very different depending on what needs to be done. I meet with my caseload weekly to work on independence-related topics which could look like anything from cooking sessions, creating a budget, renewing a passport, or working on vocational items. I also complete transitional housing moves and tours each week, lead a group during treatment hours, and help with development for the transitional housing program.
What is one place in Atlanta you think everyone should visit?
Atlanta has so many cool vintage/thrift shops and flea markets that I think everyone should check out. Some of my favorites are Kudzu Antiques + Modern, Scott Antique Markets, Decatur Estate, Last Chance, and Rag-O-Rama. Also, everyone needs to try Big Softie because they have the best soft serve ice-cream in ATL.
What do you do when you’re not at work? Favorite hobbies etc?
I do a lot of crafting in my free time and love when I can parallel play with my friends while we all do our craft projects. I also love going to the movies, going out to eat, walking on the beltline, camping or hanging out at the park, and taking naps.
